Dear Members of St’ Nicholas Business Club,
As the Christmas season approaches, we are delighted to announce a special wine tasting presentation, which will take place on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 19:30. The event will be hosted in our Christmas decorated premises, specifically in the “DNV HELLAS” conference room.
During the event, you will have the opportunity to learn all the secrets of wine tasting, including the ideal flavor pairings for each variety, the proper serving techniques, and discover tips and ideas to elevate your holiday table and impress your guests.
The upcoming wine tasting evening will be conducted by the distinguished and certified Sommelier, Ms. Giovanna Lykou, in collaboration with the renowned wine cellar “Periklis Winosophy,” owned by entrepreneur Mr. Periklis Belitsos. With her extensive experience and deep knowledge of the wine industry, Ms. Giovanna Lykou will present exquisite wine labels, explaining the characteristics of each variety and offering valuable insights on how to identify the aromas and flavors that define each wine.
It is worth noting that, upon completion of the presentation, participants will receive a certificate of attendance, which they can add to their CV as proof of their participation in this specialized wine tasting event.
The Wine Tasting includes unlimited consumption of the wines presented, accompanied by a selection of fine cheeses, premium cold cuts, unique marmalades, imaginative canapés, nuts, and dried fruits.
To ensure a better understanding of the information provided, participants will be divided into groups of 40 people to facilitate a smooth presentation flow and a personal interaction with the speaker.
Please confirm your participation, as well as that of your guests, at your earliest convenience but no later than Wednesday, November 20, 2024. This will enable us to finalize the necessary organizational arrangements, as places will be allocated strictly in accordance with the order of registration.
For your information, following the presentation, a grand party will be held at the Executive’s Bar – Hall of A General Group, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy premium wines, accompanied by a variety of rich delicacies in a beautiful and festive atmosphere. This will also be an excellent opportunity to network and exchange ideas with other attendees.
Lastly, please find below the impressive biography of Ms. Giovanna Lykou:
Giovanna Lykou was born and raised in Athens. She graduated from the Department of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in Art History, with a particular focus on Contemporary Art. She studied Oenology to ensure she knew what to drink on every occasion, and, captivated by this journey, she made it her mission to make wine loved and accessible to everyone.
She has worked as a sommelier in some of the most significant and renowned wine bars, as well as in gastronomic restaurants across the country, with a highlight being her three-year tenure at the two Michelin-starred restaurant “Spondi.” She is a certified Sherry Educator, with a distinction of excellence from the Consejo Regulador de la DO «Jerez Xérès Sherry». She is also a certified spirits educator, representing reputable companies and products within the industry throughout her professional career.
Currently, she is the Wine & Spirits Director at Greece’s largest online wine shop, House of Wine, and has been a lecturer in the Department of Oenology at Le Monde School for the past eight years, from which she also graduated. She is a member of the Panhellenic Association of Sommeliers and the creator of the brand “Awesome Lady.” Her relationship with wine and spirits is reflected in her writings across various sites and publications, with her favorite being “Grape Mag.” She has also made radio and television appearances, as well as presentations, tastings, and training sessions for both private individuals and professionals.
